Westminster Abbey is famous for it´s royal spectaculars and gothic architecture.
The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066, and is the final resting place of many monarchs. The church we see today was begun by Henry III in 1245. The Abbey was damaged in world war two but daily worship continued.
More than 100 poets and writers, including William Shakespeare, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens are buried or remembered here.
Nice to know: Britains oldest door can be found in the passage leading to the chapter house.
When you want to visit the Abbey but don´t want to wait a long time you should definitely book ticktes before you travel to London so you can visit more things in a day.
