Who lives in the Buckingham Palace?

It is the administrative headquarters of the ruling monarch and nowadays there are also living quarters for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip.

Buckingham Palace is actually the Queen’s official residence, but most of the time she lives in her castle in Windsor (20 kilometers from London)

The Buckingham Palace is since 1837 Londons certified home of Britains monarchs. Today it´s their administrative head office. It is home of 52 official royal bedrooms and guest rooms, 19 state rooms and all together 775 rooms. The staff himself has 188 bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.

Some parts of the Buckingham Palace are open for visitors in summer when the queen is in another residence. But you have to book fast because every tour has limited availability.

These parts of the Palace are open for tourists in summer:

State Rooms, Throne Room, Picture Gallery, Blue Drawing room, Marble Hall, White Drawing Room and the Ballroom.
